February 22nd to 25th 2012

10 a.m. to 10 p.m. -  non-stop ecstatic, deep, loving kirtan.

The first day of the 1st Mayapur Kirtan Mela, February 22nd, disappearance day of HH Tamal krishna Goswami, is dedicated with all our affection to his memory. He strongly promoted the revival of the "Kirtan Culture" in Sridham Mayapur. Prior to his departure HH Tamal Krishna Goswami maharaj would have kirtans in his room daily, from where they moved into the temple room. Since his departure devotees have kept the tradition under the banner of Holy Name Abhiseka during the first days of the Mayapur Gaur Purnima Festival. This year the evenings of Holy Name Abhiseka have expanded into 4 -12 hour kirtans... or more.

  1. Are there going to be young new generation kirtaniyas singing?? Even if a few come, It will be appreciated alot because seeing them leading kirtans, people will be even more convinced and amazed that Krishna consciousness and this kirtan, are both growing tremendously! Young boys singing their hearts out! GAURANGA!!

    1. Hare Krishna Radha,

Of fifteen kirtaniyas scheduled, 6 are second generation devotees. It was very important to us to include them in the list. You can see the list of kirtaniyas on the kirtaniya page.

Mayapur Chandras are 6 Mayapur gurukula graduates, 2 of the Mayapuris will be here, Nitai Priya is a second generation devotee from Ghana. You probably know Madhava, Amala Harinam and Jahnavi, all second generation devotees.
